Q: What if I get loss?
A: At the sixth grade orientation before school starts, you will receive a schedule of a your classes. Make sure you know where all your classes are on the map. If helps if you memorize you schedule before hand. Also, on the first day of school, the teachers will be standing outside their classrooms and will help you. On the first day of my sixth grade year, a teacher had to rescue me from a crowd. She literally went into the crowd, took me by shoulders, and dragged me out. So don’t be scared to ask a teacher. What I found that helps is before the first day of school, I would print out a picture of the school map and highlight all the classes I would be going to, and on the map I would write my classes, teachers, and room numbers in the order of which I would be attending them. I would put the map in the front of my binder, or another idea is to put your school schedule in front of your binder.
Q: Are the eighth graders scary?
A: I know it seems that eighth graders are seem scary, but some of them will help you if you ask. But an eigth graders biggest pet peeve are 6th graders who don’t have proper hallway manners. Just make sure you don’t stand in the middle of the hallway, always walk on the right side of the hallway, never run or walk really slow, and don’t walk in large groups.
Q: How do I avoid a traffic jam in the hallways?
A: Traffic jams will always happen, especially in the place where the sixth and main hallway connect together. But, try to get pass them as quickly as possible. Don’t take your time, walk on the right side of the hallway, don’t walk in big crowds, and don’t text. The easiest way to get out of them is not to try making a sharp cut through cutting off people. Go with the flow of the people in the hallway and walk in the direction they are walking before making a turn.
Q: Is it awkward to change with a bunch of people in the locker rooms?
A: At first it can be pretty awkward. On my first day of gym, there was a long line for the bathroom stall. But, eventually you will get more comfortable. Everyone is focused on themselves. Just change as fast as possible. If you still feel a little awkward, wear a tank top or cami and spandex. I still do. And for the girls, try to keep extra hair ties in your gym locker for the future. And it is a good idea for everyone to keep deodorant and/of baby wipes in your locker for after gym.

A: The homework load is only a little bit bigger than 5th grade (well at least for me). And it is really not bad at all. Just make sure you stay on top of it and do it or it might begin to start piling up.
Q: Are the teachers mean?
A: Don’t worry about that. All the sixth grade teachers are nice. Even if they were mean, try to get on their good side by doing all your homework and turning in your assignments on time. Try your best ever day. And always give 100%.
